Nov. 16th, 2004 11:00 pmToday was definitely better than yesterday.
Work was a vast improvement - no constant interruptions and I was finally able to do some things that made me feel effective. Also the happy news of no jury duty tomorrow - sure, I do have to go to work, but I don't have to haul ass across town to hear bad news (brr)!
D. and I still both needed a laugh, so we went out to see The Incredibles. Wonderfully fun and funny, and the animated textures were...super-real. But in a cartoony way, so it wasn't disturbing.
Best character: Edna Mode, a parody of Edith Head and possibly also Carrie Donovan! This is definitely a "big screen" movie; you really need to see it at that scale to marvel at the technical detail and subtle movements!
It's also got a solid story, not too complicated but plenty to keep you occupied. Also the dialog is clever enough that adults aren't bored and I imagine kids don't feel "talked down" to.
Also revised my "fashion/costume" icon - yep, that is me in the Pink Thing!
All together a better day. Think I'll go read - will make a list of bedside books a la

Glad you had a better day. *hugs*
So the people in The Incredibles were cartoony enough not to be disturbing? That's good - I find computer-generated people almost eerie.

Date: 2004-11-17 01:37 pm (UTC)Re: Incredibles: Oh no, very cartoony. I agree - the realer-than-real effects are downright scary on realistic people - just TOO perfect. If they really want that semblance to reality they need to add some "noise", or at least a pimple, or something!
