my Miyakes

Felt all productive 'n stuff today, so I finally got together a page featuring some of my Miyakes from the past few years.

Please note: this ain't all of them; missing are some that I was having problems getting a good picture of (dark pants don't show much detail on the floor and are impossible to get on that dress mold), and some that no longer fit and are lurking somewhere in my fabric stash as "reference".

Looking at these, I'm pleased with some, but see room for improvement with others. A lot of these were made on the inspiration of some classes on Miyake patterns that I took some years back, and while I think it was good that they forced me to look beyond my minimalist comfort zone in terms of color, pattern, and texture, these garments also reveal that I've got a lot to learn about color and texture selection (the dupioni top in particular is noisy to wear and completely blends in with my skin).

I love the "futon coat" (it's padded with polarfleece - warm, warm warm!!), but I almost never wear these colors. I'm tempted to remake it in either black and white or different textures of black (velvet/satin/something else?). One day, one day...

I've gotten immense wear out of the wrap skirt. It's a bit big for me now, I really want to redo it!

I absolutely love that twist top. Too bad it doesn't look like something I could get away with wearing. =(
