pattern eating?

For some reason, yesterday evening I took it into my head to go through my pattern collection - I remembered a Vogue hat pattern I'd picked up some time ago and wondered if I had enough fabric to make one up.

Three (closed, plastic) crates of patterns later - no hat pattern found. Also missing a Montana jacket I was considering doing a draft of, and a couple of other things I could swear I had a couple of months ago. And interestingly, duplicates of the oddest things....

I'm going to take another look around tomorrow night but I'm rather bewildered, as usually I toss new finds into the boxes, never to be removed again until I'm intending to make them (??)

Also fearing I'm coming off as a rude bitch to one and all because I failed to check my Yahoo account in a timely manner and didn't get back to a couple of folks for over a week - bad me! :( You know who you are, and I apologize sincerely. I'll try and check more often, and be advised that Gmail is my choice account of late (mm, threaded conversation).

Meanwhile I'm VERY tired and hope to sleep well tonight!

a) you're a Lexxian and b) there is pattern missing? additional parameter; c) you have not observed a man with antlers on his head roam your house lately? conclusion; if a worm emerge from you head you should definitly go to the doctor immediately!

My cats are especially trained to protect us from antler-headed men, so I don't think he'd have got past them ;)

All your missing stuff is in a "safe place". That's where my things always turn up ... eventually. ***grin***

The mysterious duplicates are another matter ... you've obviously created the right conditions for patterns to breed (they must reproduce by fission, like amoebas!)

Oh, they're somewhere - it's entirely possible they're mixed up with whatever fabric I got to make them with (the hats at least)!

You strike me with the terrifying thought that yes, indeed, patterns CAN multiply in crowded conditions, rather like coat hangers. Very good news for my valuable Miyakes. For my really frivolous 99 cent patterns - not so much! :P

You've just got to work out the right breeding program ... crossing valuable Miyakes with cheap patterns with an eye to producing high-quality Miyakes with low prices! ;-)

P.S. Next time a new Miyake (or other designer) that you crave is printed by Vogue, let me know, in case I can save you some $$$ ... at Fabricland, the maximum price that sewing club members pay for Vogue patterns is $12.99 Canadian (non-members pay $33.00C). Mucho cheapo!
