As well they should be! Have you ever heard of the book The Island of Lost Maps (http://www.januarymagazine.com/nonfiction/lostmaps.html)? It describes the activities of a thief of antique maps, who among other techniques, would razor (!!) them out of priceless books of charts. As a library tech, it will make your blood boil!

No I haven't heard of that book (opens second window to check if CPL has it), but I have two clippings from the Library of Congress Information Bulletin describing real people who were busted by the FBI for committing this very crime in the Library of Congress (materials valued at $40,000.00 in one case and $200,000.00 in the other)!

I used to keep these pinned to the wall beside my desk when I worked at the college, along with other interesting library entertainment ***grin***

Yippee!!!!! CPL has it!!!! ***looking at subject headings*** And this guy isn't EITHER of the ones in my clippings, either!!!
