Mk II Fugu - TS/Codeword

So what's the deal with fugu toxin? If you watched enough Sealab, you know it formed the basis of Stimutacs, which eventually drove the crew insane and led to the (184th) destruction of Sealab. If you read the Wild Palms Reader (and THEY haven't got to you to erase your memory of it) you remember that fugu, chemically synergized with E, created a powerful empathetic/hallucinomimetic drug (mimaspherodine) used to increase the seeming-realism of the holographic VR systems of the day. Why all the interest in fugu?

The key lies in a long-secret CIA project run during the 70s, Mk II Fugu, later known as "Mk II, Electric Fugulu". Ostensibly yet another dreary attempt at mind control via post-hypnotic suggestion, the project was "discontinued" when many of the subjects developed strange mental powers. (c.f. the Sealab episode.) In reality the project was taken deep underground by a splinter group within the CIA, to exploit these strange abilities. The project never came to light in part because the required doses of fugu were both highly addictive and extremely neurotoxic; any given subject might have a window of only a month or 2 during which they displayed psychic powers before the fugu killed them, so the "evidence" was inherently self-destructing. The kelp in stimutacs was nowhere near strong enough to protect the crew of Sealab, who lasted probably no more than a week, while the CIA used much more advanced supportive measures, akin to what you'd find in an ICU today. The relative nontoxicity of mimaspherodine, as compared to fugu, was due to the way in which the fugu toxin was chemically bonded to the E molecule. The fugu toxin lost much of its unique power due to this bonding, but the toxicity was also greatly reduced.

So why am I telling you all of this, now? First, I know THEY are finally coming for me, and I want this information to make it out into the world. Second, a group of underground chilehead chemists have managed to create a chemical hybrid of fugu toxin and capsaicin. Not only is this the hottest substance ever discovered, by several orders of magnitude, the hallucinogenic/tactogenic properties of fugu cause you to feel the heat not just on your tongue but all over you body. It feels like your entire body is transformed into flame while, due to the disassociative-anaesthetic effect of excess endorphins, you feel like you're sitting outside of your body, watching it burn (OOBE). It brings the experience of hot foods to a whole new, even spiritual level. (Not to mention it's a hoot to put a single drop into the salsa jar at parties.)

And even better, the chemical hybridization with capsaicin has eliminated the addictive qualities that fugu normally has. No, really! I can stop any time I want to! You don't think so, eh? Ok mister, you just bought yourself a ticket to pretzelville!

You see, it's obvious why They are after you - you're the only living being that can digest the Fugu/Capsaicin, rather the way only a Reverend Mother can transmute the Water of Life. They have to get to you before the Others do!!!
