I continued my cleaning jag today. D. removed most of the built-up cat hair from our various blankets and throws (forget knitting a new cat - I think we could get a whole litter!) and these are currently washing/drying as we speak. Kisia was rather disturbed by the temporarly loss of her favorite "seat", but she coped. What a trooper ;)

[livejournal.com profile] geekchick and I exchanged books and had coffee (evil dark Starbucks javaaah [maniacal laughter]!). The sky fell out just as I was driving home, but this was a good thing, as Proper Summer Weather has finally arrived and it was absolutely infernal in my car until the rain came pouring down.

Got home, lifted dumbells, sweated some more. Showers after prolonged overheating/exertion are beyond sublime, and this one was no different :)

Re-started "Plan of Attack" and washed more cat hair covered items. I think I can see the guest room bedspread now, but I am covered in fur and inhaled so much that I may be working on a furball of my very own :P Gack, gack gack....

I should probably try to sleep as I have that "work thing" tomorrow.

Did you know the upholstery brush on a vaccum cleaner will pick up a lot of that cat hair? I had one of those small hand held mini vacs with a rotating brush that I liked to use on the livingroom furniture and throw pillows. It died recently, stopped sucking up the hair and I replaced it with what I thought was a similiar little vaccum. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the rotating brush but it does have an upholstery brush, I just have to remember to pull the gathered hair off the thing as I vacuum. :)

I'm definitely going to keep something like that in mind for my next proper vacuum - right now we make do with something called the "shark" - tiny but powerful.

Any tips on how to vacuum loose thread without destroying the vaccuum cleaner? That's how the last one died!

I didn't use the vacuum cleaner to pick up the thread as it only wound around the rotating brush. What I do use is one of those sticky roller lint brushes that Dollar General sells for about $2. Just roll it over the carpet or whatever and the strings stick to the roller. We just recently got in little pocket lint rollers that can be rinsed off that are also good for collecting loose threads. Or you could just take some duck tape or package tape, wound around your hand and pat at the carpet or surface covered in loose thread.

Char....trying to be helpful. :)

Thanks! I do believe we got the instructions on how to make the icon from you, so thank you for providing them! Tim made one too but likes his Pesk icon better.
The cat represented is our newest family member, Mysty.
