Still short on sleep, but better than yesterday!

I did get into my beading stuff this week and did up a quick lapis/copper bracelet while watching "Spiderman" (prep for Spiderman II). It's ok I guess, the colors "bounce" about as well as I'd hoped. It's hard to work with gemstone chips because they really need embellishment with something else or they just look like the strand you got at the store.

I'm also having trouble finding the donut beads I got back in February when I picked up rhinestones for the Pink Project - they were in a little paper bag and I could swear I put them with the rest of the beads, but as of this morning they are still MIA :P

Fencing at Chevy Chase went well - between the clash of metal and buzzing score boxes echoing off the walls, I think I heard a few bouts called in my favor (!) These folks are probably the most competitive local fencers, so I'm rather pleased with myself, even if I don't entirely trust the accuracy of the score box....

This weekend I'm going to try to rest and "detox" - far too much caffiene and junk food, and I really don't feel all that great this morning :/ It's been something of a lousy week, but at least that means it can only go uphill from here!

A lot of detail is lost in that photo ... it's even more complicated than it appears. Good thing I LIKE complexity. :P The piece is close to being finished ... I've only got the strip of garden to the left of the gate to do. It was the wrought-iron gate that bogged me down for a long time ... that metallic filament is HORRIBLE stuff!!!!! It frays, it kinks, it snags, it grabs any chance to slip out of the needle and leave you a strand short. And it looks absolutely wonderful when you stand back and look at the piece (good thing too, or I would have given in to the temptation to dump the entire thing into the food processor!!!)
