weekend sew-a-thon

After working on the Hussar pages all week, I was seized with an inspiration: the Vogue pattern I was working with isn't behaving as predicted or wanted, and it's going to be an age before I can start work on the real garment.
And I have all this cheapie muslin lying around....
So I decided to draft the pattern myself. It's good practice at something I don't usually do (store bought patterns save time), and I'll get a (hopefully) immaculate fit besides. More details at the site in a few days; but I've got a basic sleeve done and hope to do a fitting tonight or this week.
The weather flirted with raining all day, but never quite committed. I got out to the grocery and the Apothecary (soon to rename themselves "Village Green"). I looked for some hair/skin/nails formula, hoping to help fix my hair at the root (pun intended), but all were too pricey to consider right now. I'm going to double-up on the N-Acetyl-Cysteine (has done wonders for my nails, perhaps more is better?) and continue with the Nizoral.
Also washing the entire contents of the linen closet to remove dust mites and other yuck. Fear not, I'm letting the machine do the work and chilling with books while I wait to turn everything over.

Date: 2004-06-20 11:24 am (UTC)I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to do it yourself, as long as you can get hold of basic hair colouring ingredients. I've always had it done by a hairdresser ... one of my self-pamperings. :-) All they do is stir up all the goop for colouring, but without adding the pigment. Same application technique ... brushed on from root to tip, section by section. Followed by the best bit ... hairdresser manually massaging anything left in the bowl into hair and scalp (sans gloves 'cause it's great on the skin). Then leave in hair for as long as you can (the time for "normal" hair was about 20 minutes ... because curly hair sucks the stuff up, I generally get an hour). Then wash out the excess.
If you can't get the supplies, check hairdresser rates ... it should cost less than a colouring job because it's not using pigment supplies and there's no worries about timing, etc.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
