randomness
Apr. 28th, 2004 10:06 pmNot sure what's been slipped into my coffee all week, but I sure am having the strangest dreams:
Weird dream 1: I'm at Siouxsie and Budgie's (of Siouxsie and the Banshees) wedding. It's in a grand country estate because Budgie's dad is evidently a duke or something (note: I enjoy the music but I'm not enough of a fan to know whether Siouxsie and Budgie are married, or whether Budgie's dad is a duke or a taxi driver) and there's gold damask wallpaper and lace doilies over everything. There's a little boy at the wedding with huge, liquid eyes who has a crush on Siouxsie and is eating cream filled chocolate bon-bons, one after the other....
I follow the kid out of the house into a dark gymnasium where my fencing coach is there and is getting all these kids ready for their first lesson. I'm chosen to demonstrate because I'm the only one there who has fenced before, and I get this huge grin because these were kids that laughed at me for playing a crap game of kickball (sounds like Harry Potter, doesn't it? "I'm head boy and holding the quidditch cup!"). Then it segues into something else but I still have this smug satisfaction being better at something than everyone else :P
Dream 2: I'm backstage at one of Claudia Black's performances; in my dream she owns her own theater somewhere in Australia and when not directing, travels the world performing Shakespearean plays to wild acclaim.
We're only vaguely acquainted and just as I finally get to talk to her alone, she ends up leaving with some guy so lackluster I didn't even notice him. I stand there cursing myself for not making the first move - or any move - fast enough!
So, that's pretty pear shaped right there :P
Other stuff: got my hair cut today. I've been doing the same thing for awhile, and haven't streaked with pretty colors since last fall because I've done most of the ones I like - until today. Picked up a bottle of Special Effects Fishbowl at the hairdresser's; now it's just a question of having time/guts to bleach my own hair again.
It's just as well that I'll have to wait because my skin is red and irritated dry, sandpapery bumps around my hairline and on my back - possibly an allergic reaction to sitting around in sweaty clothes all weekend?. Probably best to wait until I heal up.
Random news thingy - found out a year late that the reproduction Amber Room was completed. It's a mystery what happened to the original, and quite tempting to hope that it's still packed away somewhere in Germany..
That's about all I've got for tonight.

Date: 2004-04-30 08:14 pm (UTC)I think it's kewl someone else knew about this too! Can you imagine seeing it for real? I think it's amazing. I really didn't know they could come up with amber in such quantities is amazing. I had always thought it was only in little bitty chunks, with insects imbedded in it!
