Just watched my cats team up to kill a bug, the first large one of the season (I don't know what it's called - I call it a "breakfast bug" because that is its usual fate once the cats get ahold of it). (Edit: turns out that "breakfast bug" = house centipide. They do bite so perhaps I should be more careful about letting the cats play with them).

Kisia found it and "pointed", meowing quite clearly that I should either 1) hold her up so she could see it, or 2) knock it into the floor so she could play with it. I opted for the latter (done carefully with feather toy on a long stick) and brought in Spice ("the terminator") to assist.

They batted it back and forth between them, and after they'd played with it to death Spice ate it (I love that she removes the bodies - she'd make a great "cleaner"). It's like the African savanna on a very small scale - they're both now sniffing around the house and staring at the walls, seeking more things to hunt and kill.

They're both such good little predators - makes a cat-mom proud! [wipes tear]

::::whoooh!:::: :::big eyes::: I dunno, but one apartment I lived in had those house centipides and they were about TWICE the size of the one in the picture. I don't like things with too many legs and the first time I saw one in the basement on the wall I just about jumped out of my skin.

::::brrrrr - shivering still:::::

Ewww!!!!! Let me know where that apartment was so I'll never go there!

And I hate even these tiny ones, even though they're mostly harmless (except for the biting thing). That's why I'm happy that Spice eats them - I don't even want a dead one in my house!

:P Not so cool looking when it's on your wall! Kisia found another last night, but it got away - which means it's still somewhere in my house being creepy. I hope they find it while I'm at work!
