An article concerning how supernatural perceptions of a god or gods is terribly inadequate to explain or comfort people in times of crisis.
Despite my reservations about (and sometimes outright antagonism towards) organized religion, I think Spong is on the right track. I've read several of his books and he seems to be that rare thing, a totally sensible person who happens to have religious faith. An impressive person, perhaps even more so because he impresses someone like me.
