the slow drip
Dec. 12th, 2003 10:48 pmYes, I have a cold. There, I said it :P I'm eating vitamins like they're going out of style and drinking gallons of water so I won't feel like a sun-dried tomato after taking my cold medicine.
Needless to say, my stuffiness is making me grumpy, and I feel the urge to rant:
Yet another from the "I-can't-make-this-up" Dept:
A bill has been introduced to ban profanity in broadcasting. The wording of the bill itself will not be able to be broadcast, because it includes, quite explicitly, the language they plan to ban (!!) Text is available at Atrios; for greater credibility I'd link to the bill at thomas.loc.gov but it appears to be down just now - search for number "HR 3687" if it pops back up.
My take: I'm so, SO glad that the lawmakers of this country have such IMPORTANT things to consider </sarcasm>. Never mind the crap economy, civil rights abuses of the PATRIOT Act, multiple armedquagmires conflicts, etc. Frankly, I think conservatives are using this to kiss up to their constituency in preparation for next year's elections (Or some such. My vocabulary sucks at the moment as my brain is leaking out my nose).
