Sitting here busily uploading web changes and catching up on Hotmail correspondence while waiting for the thunderstorms to hit.

I used yesterday's holiday to take care of a few odds and ends. The local grocer has stopped selling my favorite cocoa, and because this chaos could not continue I went out to Trader Joe's in search of something other than the nasty paper packet variety with fake marshmallows.

Scored! Food porn: Ghirardhelli cocoa in 4 flavors (including my beloved Chocolate Hazelnut). Cajun and jambalaya simmer sauces to excite mine and D.'s bored palates. Organically grown beef, to see if it really tastes better than the usual swimming-in-antibiotics type. No Pudge Brownies, to let D. work his baking magic. Fantastic smells in that place, a reminder why I don't go more often - it's all so tempting!!

Also searched for remedies to help my trainwrecking skin. Note: tea tree oil could dry up the Baron Harkonnen's acne, and only a tiny dab will do ya - that stuff ROCKS!

I'm trying to drink more water, partly for my skin but also for my stomach. For the past couple of weeks even decaf coffee is bothering me, so I'm trying to make a habit of one full glass of water in the morning before breakfast and another one before dinner.

Jury duty today: Some folks cannot keep their eyes on the ball. Others can't give a straight answer. Much tail-chasing.

Been proofing/brainstorming fic, including the much-discussed "Queer Eye for the Snape Guy". On the back burner at the moment as I have more urgent storylines creeping up.

Back to the grind tomorrow..

We have discovered organically-grown ostrich. Now, while I refuse to think about how they actually process those poor little critters, the meat is almost the healthiest you can eat - low cholesterol, fat, and it tastes wonderful. We buy it in premade patties and cook them up like you would a hamburger. I love them.

Have tried buffalo (or is it bison?) but don't care for the flavor of the meat - a little odd.

Well, we get the ostrich from BJ's - similar to Sam's Club if you have them out your way. I've seen it in a few restaurants, but not in any "regular type" grocery stores, unfortunately. I'd send you some but it would most likely be a bit on the green, spoiled side when it got there. Ick.

Ask around for it though - some of the smaller places do carry it.
