Matrix Revolutions: Review
Nov. 11th, 2003 06:41 pmD. and I went to see this last night. I'm not going to snip for spoilers, because I'm not going to include any!
In a nutshell: delightful eye candy and action, but woefully light on the philosophy of the first two films (or at least, the first :P). I found the Final Battle between Neo/Smith to be anticlimactic, the cinematic equivalent of "lets use EVERY Photoshop filter we can get our hands on!!" It's actually a pretty good action film, if you resist the urge to compare it to the first Matrix - a single technique can only be ground-breaking once, after all.
Re: costumes (and you knew I was gonna mention them ;) ) I want everything from the Merovingian's club! Surrealistic fetish contrivances of leather, latex, and chain mail - mmmmm! D. and I cannot figure out why the Merovingian ran around on his wife - clearly he is either blind or stupid, because her gorgeous latex dress was cut down to there and she filled it so well!
As for stills, I've gone through the Matrix website and done searches and cannot find a single good shot of this scene that shows the people in the crowd - you'll just have to go see it. And later on, get the DVD for "pause" capabilities.
