[livejournal.com profile] geekchick - thanks for telling me about the $3.60 Vogue patterns!! That whooshing noise you heard was me flying out to JoAnn's to get the Miyakes I've been drooling over!

I picked them up in all sizes that they offered - most of Miyake's patterns go out of print fairly quickly, and when they do they fetch lovely prices on EBay ($100 +). Call it an investment for the future ;)

Also picked up a couple of "military-style" jacket patterns, and finally got the zoot suit pattern for D.

I also picked up for D. the Butterick priests' cassock pattern, the last they had. It's not his size, but I can probably draft it up once I re-take his measurements and make a sloper. I cannot really sew for him until his weight stabilizes; he is continually losing (a good thing!) so anything I make now won't fit in a couple of months!

The salespeople told me that Simplicity wasn't on sale right now; I do notice in their circular that they will be 6 for $6 next week, so I'll pick up the Matrix patterns then (and the "wizard robes", if they aren't still sold out).

Now, see, that's odd since I only knew about the Vogue patterns being on sale because they were in the same graphic that said Simplicity and McCall's were on sale Aug. 24-30. I thought you'd like to know about the Vogue sale though. ;) I may consider an investment myself; I fell in love with a skirt/shirt pattern on Vogue's site, and it turned out to be a Miyake. Not that I could possibly sew it myself anytime in the next decade, but if I feel desperate for it I could take it to a tailor. =) Because, you know, I need so much more Stuff[tm] sitting around too. ;)

I picked up their sales circular and was irritated to find that the salesperson had told me wrong! I'm going to stop off tomorrow night and hope that they have everything in stock!

Hey, at $3.60 a pop, the time is now! They also have some very pretty vintage (1940s-50s mostly) patterns.
