Kisia's been vomiting since about 4:30. At first we thought it was hairballs, but she continues to spit up even though it's just water now.

Called the emergency vets - he said that if she is otherwise ok (and she is - subdued and hiding under the bed, but ok) to take food and water away until 1:30 am and that this didn't sound like an emergency situation. So, we're keeping an eye on her and not bothering her too much.

Yes, I know, I'm being a paranoid cat lady - she probably ate some rancid tuna juice or some such and is just purging, but it bothers me. I mean, they don't go outside, so it's not like she can catch anything from another cat, so I have to wonder what it might be in the house that made her sick.

Whatever it was, Spice is fine, at the very least.

If anyone has seen this sort of thing before with their cats, I'd be much appreciative of advice/suggestions/support!

electriccat is right... cat's sometimes just yack and yack. KiKat used to do that sometimes, almost like a nervous hiccup, until I figured that giving her salty potato chips would help her stop. The salt soothed her stomach, I guess. I'd also check your houseplant in case they've been nibbled, and check your shoelaces. Finally, check your cat's last bowel movement, and see if its reflecting something unusual that's passing through her.

The alternate is to offer her wheatgrass -- not liquid, but fresh blades from a health food store. Cats love that, and it makes them yack up most everything in their system -- food, hairballs, insects, paperclips, etc. One flush, and it's a go.

Well, there are any number of things that get on the floor that she might have decided to try (onions being among them). We also left out some "tuna juice" overnight, and if it went rancid maybe that's it. At any rate, it's not something that's affecting Spice.

Re: houseplants - we don't have any, given that I have such a brown thumb :P I've been trying to grow some wheat grass for them for the past few weeks, to no avail - normally the local Petco has live plants, but not lately (will be checking them again tomorrow).

Re: bowel movement - we don't think she's been to the litter at all; her x ray revealed that she probably does need to "go". The vet gave her some petroleum based furball medicine, so we're just waiting..

At the very least, she was very aggressive at the vets - not pleasant for any of us but all of her growling at least means she's not so ill that she won't fight :/
