Pirate Spank Inferno*
Jun. 3rd, 2007 09:47 pmIn my imagination, it wasn't too hard for the directors/producers/whoever of "Pirates of the Caribbean III" to convince Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Chow-Yun Fat and everyone else to drop more serious projects in order to make this movie: "Yeah, you are all talented actors who have done and can do again some Serious Drama(TM) and brainy art-like films - but how about spending a few months in the Bahamas with black gunk on your teeth and yelling "Arrrrrr!" a lot? We'll pay!"
I thought this movie was hysterical and I can't help but imagine that everyone making it had a lot of fun with their roles (if not with the black gunk). I think the Flying Dutchman and the Black Pearl were so ragged not from constant battle, but from the incredible amount of scenery chewed :P
High art, it ain't, nor was I expecting it to be.
( spoilerage? )
Short version - fun and silly, and next time I need to veg out for a day or two I'm running all 3 back to back so I can point and laugh.
And oh yeah, I need a pirate coat.
*Yeah, I know the joke's worn thin but it still cracks me up :P
