glad I have my own fencing gear

MRSA: it's not just for hospitals anymore. In addition it turns out that sharing fencing gear (even body cords) is a way to get infected.

This is not to imply that the people I fence with are lepers or that the clubs I fence at are dirty, not at all, but ya never know. Being a sweaty mess isn't the only reason to have a hot, soapy shower as soon as I get home.

I think I will start washing my gear more often (lately it's been every 2-3 practices), and running a kitchen wipe or similar over the body cord though.
