Oct. 27th, 2006 07:37 pmRichard Dolan on the Kevin Smith (no, not that one) Show. Dolan's pretty much leaves the question of whether UFOs = aliens to other writers; his concern is whether the U.S. government ever had an interest in UFOs, and if so, why. I've read the book and IMHO he proves that during the Cold War, the U.S. government DID have an interest in UFOs, largely for national security reasons. Interview link #60210.
Paranormal Podcast interviews Marie Jones about her new book, Psience: How New Discoveries in Quantum Physics And New Science May Explain the Existence of Paranormal Phenomena. I don't know enough about "regular" physics to evaluate whether quantum physics contains adequate explanations for paranormal activity, but I appreciate attempts to scientifically analyze supernatural claims - makes a lot more sense than just invoking god/aliens/dead people/"energy" for what we can't explain. There's also a Psience blog.
A genetic explanation for elves over at The Examining Room of Dr. Charles: Evidently a condition called Willams Syndrome causes "short stature, elfin features, and intense emotional responses to music" associated traditionally with mythical elves. Interesting.
