holy crap, I can't believe I have this!
Aug. 16th, 2006 09:36 pmI was going through my (relatively) old rave flyers in search of a particular one to send a friend. I am astounded at how much I saved, and how very many of the parties I went to I actually remember!
I'm glad I saved as much as I did: even at 20-21 I had a historical cast to my mind and saved flyers (with duplicates) because I saw raves as pop cultural history close up. I need to get all of these in binders (acid free, of course) :P
I also got a look at some of the photos of myself from that time and...well, I'm surprised at how much the same I look. Sure, I've gained weight and a few laugh lines, but at 33 I still look enough like my 21 year old self that it's easy to tell it's the same person. I even have much the same haircut (cut it all off at 13 and never looked back). I'm not sure whether this is good or bad, because I think we're all supposed to change over time.
But then, I guess much of the change was on the inside....
One day maybe I'll write in more detail about my years as a college raver.
