It has been abusively cold this week (Canadians, bear with me :P). Severe wind chills and I'm not sure it's been above freezing for a few days - that is unusual for here. Broke out the big boots this morning - these + fencing socks are about as warm as I can get!

Jury duty was more boring than watching grass grow - I didn't know it could be this staggeringly dull! I was forced to drink a lot of (watery) coffee to keep awake, which didn't work completely and left me with that nasty "stale coffee" taste in my mouth all day. I was able to read a bit in Dress Accessories but while the data is interesting, it doesn't exactly have a gripping plot :P Email and lists waiting in my box at home were looking far more interesting, so the day ended on a fairly good note :)

More weird dreams: this time around I was in the middle of a media extravaganza surrounding the latest computer innovation - a CPU that had a panel on top to keep your drink warm while you computed (I'm sure there's some statement here to be made about my relative coffee consumption at work, but let's not go there :P). One of my friends was the inventor and was traveling around the country for release parties so large and loud and colorful that they'd make Christian Lacroix blush. Through all of this I was looking for the perfect pair of elbow-length white gloves (??)

This weekend looks not to be as absurdly busy as last, and I am determined to 1) write 2) read 3) sleep. I won't even have to go out for the Vogue Pattern 75% off sale at Jo-Ann's as it's not 'til next week :)

Don't rush off the strip to answer your cell phone in the middle of a bout. I'm pretty sure it's illegal in competition and I don't care if it was your mom! Had this been a real duel, your opponent could have stabbed you in the back :P

Apart from this rather severe breach of protocol (for which I will tease the perpetrator mercilessly), fencing went quite well tonight. Despite the cold, quite a few people showed up, including a couple of new folks. I fenced almost everyone there, including a new person who surprised me by being very fast and aggressive!

One of my goals for the year was to make my job more interesting, and this has happened, but not quite in the way I expected! The person in charge of content management for the site is being phased out, and I will be taking over part of her job - deciding where new content goes, if it should go, etc. There will still be some review from the public affairs folks. This rearrangement will also cut out the middleman, leaving me with a lot of direct contact with requestors - I guess all that customer service in retail will not be entirely for naught!

If I can just straggle out in the cold tomorrow and then back home, I can look forward an evening curled up under a blanket with a book and a hot chocolate. I think I'm turning into a hobbit (inspects feet)..

Time to get a snack and then to bed.
