got a habit I just can't quit
Dec. 27th, 2003 11:04 pmBooks. Loads of them. Whenever/wherever possible.
When I say "wherever", I mean literally - part of my cleanup/re-organization involves finding places to shelve all these books to insure that they are well cared for and that I can find them when I need them!
In spite of this, I am adding to the pile yet again, albeit modestly. I've been lusting after this and the rest of its series since I discovered them; now I've got it on order. I've decided to be more selective about adding to my collection, getting books that are either unavailable at the library or that I'm going to refer to repeatedly (preferably both). Curiously, these restrictions don't slow me down ;)
Last night I dreamt of living in a library with so many floors I couldn't see the roof and winding spiral staircases so well used that the steps had no varnish left :) The "reading area" had heavy, comfortable chairs (but not too comfortable, to prevent falling asleep) and inclined tables to hold those huge, leatherbound volumes [sigh]!
Think I'll go work on my stack ;)
