L. sent me a link to Umix.net to let me know where a mutal friend is spinning before he moves to Norway (!), and reading through I'm amazed at how much has stayed the same. A.'s gig is at a club called Formosa, which, ironically, is the same space where he spun one of his first parties, Nextscape, when it was a cinderblock and cement floored warehouse. Was that really 8 years ago?

I'm also kinda surprised to see that Backstreet (24/7 gay dance club) is still there, along with the same signage and Charlie Brown's cabaret. Makes me wonder what's new down there!

If you find yourself in Atlanta and want to go out, check this site. It's pretty thorough and well organized. Has restaurant listings too.

Looks like Isabel is finally getting here. Looking out the window I'm seeing the trees swaying in the wind and the rain. None of it is as bad as I thought it would be, but it's early yet and my Weatherbug keeps going off (the emergency sound is Holly from Red Dwarf, so I keep hearing my computer deadpanning, "Emergency, emergency - there's an emergency going on"). Still not brown trousers time :P

.. though I hardly dare to say it - I think most of Isabel passed us by.

We lost power for a few hours, and there WAS wind and rain, but nothing on the scale that I sat through a few years ago. The latest radar suggests that the eye hit well south of us.

We still have work off tomorrow (yay!) but my writer's workshop for Saturday was cancelled because the speakers couldn't get in (boo!). There is a GCFCG trip to the Renaissance faire the same day, but I fear it will be a mudpit after all of the rain.

Guess I'll dye my hair...
