Happy Fourth!
Jul. 4th, 2003 10:52 pmSpent most of the day either sleeping, reading, or sewing - sometimes a celebration of real freedom involves exercising the freedom to do nothing at all!
I did manage to hammer out some writing, but I don't think it's my best. I still eagerly look forward to any "lightning bolts", that come my way, but I'm learning that inspiration sometimes needs a push. Now I just need to find or create that "push"..
Still not feeling great - my sinuses itched and annoyed all last night and much of the day. As I think the itching = allergies I don't want to go around acting like I'm really sick, laying in bed and eating chicken soup, etc.
D. made brownies (aww!! And they are dark with chocolate chips... swoon! Mounds of chocolatey deliciousness!) which we ate while watching fireworks (on the tv - heat + humidity = not wanting to battle for space on the Mall). Gave the cats a "catnip party" and so now they are madly pattering around with their eyes out on stalks :P
Tomorrow I AM going to get out to the Folger for the Elizabeth I exhibit if I can manage to keep from sleeping all day!
Sewing: the interlining of the corset is coming along; nothing new to report as it's an exact duplicate of the lining. The outer layer needs to be something white or blush pink, but I don't want to use cotton again - I want something that the dress will be able to slide over with no resistance. I think I've got some gray-pink shot dupioni somewhere in my fabric stash; the question is whether I have ENOUGH. I'll think about that tomorrow...</scarlett>
