Dragged myself up at 5 and am glad I did. Even with the intense light pollution/general pollution I was able to see quite a bit just from my front door. There would be nothing for several minutes, and then.. 3 or 4 at once! Some really bright ones too, bright enough to leave a residual streak in the sky for a few seconds.

I almost didn't get up; I'm glad I did. It was cool in the same way seeing Hale-Bopp was - I'd always wanted to see Halley's as a kid, and it had been so disappointingly hard to see that the clarity of Hale-Bopp was a nice surprise. Now I've finally seen a meteor shower, and some very impressive flashes at that. Space.com will probably have photos soon, hopefully from places with better visibility.

Even though it was very cold I was well insulated (fencing kneesocks + New Rocks = comfy feet!) and it was very peaceful. Being up that early is one of the few ways to see my locale completely quiet and serene. Even though there were still meteorites "going off" I came in at 6 when I saw a neighbor in full business drag and briefcase coming out to scrape his car. After all that solitude it was just depressing to see that. I realize more and more how people around here just work TOO DAMN HARD.

I now know why my mom and sister would haul out at 4 am during our annual week at the beach during my childhood vacations - there's something very nice about being up before everyone and seeing the sunrise (and yes, I've seen sunrises before, but only because I'd been up all night). I should do that more often, but only when the weather is warmer!

Not my furbabies, but CYOOOOT!!!. Especially the kitten with its paw in its mouth. TOO SWEET!

D. took pictures of the Gray Supermodel as she sat in a box being cute last night (I guess you had to be there). I swear, they know when you've got the camera and they pose..

I did well today, but I am finally starting to droop. The bed is looking REALLY good tonight.

I did 50 crunches this evening. Tomorrow morning I know I will feel like I've been eviscerated, but I'll just have to remember that the pain means that I've actually pushed myself and that it will hurt less next time.

Listening to the "Children of Dune" audio-book.

Helping moderate an email list that has been slow in recent weeks but that has picked up - due to trolls :/ I am finding my inner Borg in the attempt not to blow up at these silly people. It stuns me that there are people out there who do not have anything better to do that aggravate and start fights. Waste of pixels.

D. advises me I am excessively polishing my halo by doing everything around the house. I am beginning to see it more as sanding my cross, i.e. I really should just stop punishing myself and ask him to do more. He always does what I ask, he just doesn't always notice on his own that something needs to be done. (And yes.. I know there is a better phrase than "cross sanding" to express what I mean, but I am too tired to think of it).
