N.E.P progress

Damn! I think I may well have (nearly) finished the top. I got the straps on, added the push-ups to the cups, and even added the metal studs (found in the "t-shirt embellishment" section of Michaels').

It looks.. ok. Better than I'd expected, not as good as I'd hoped, but OK.

The only main piece I still need to create is the belt. Barring any unforseen weirdness, this shouldn't be difficult.

I can't believe it's nearly done (!?)

I look forward to taking a break from sewing and making some jewelry. And then making something simple and plain, like a pair of pants.

what I did this weekend (when I wasn't sewing my fingers to the bone)

1. Read - finished book on the history of Freemasonry (recommended - highly credible theory as to origins) and started book on the Swinging Sixties in London (groovy, baby, so far - fun, easy read)
   
2. Discovered that long, colorful, Dr. Who-type scarves are the trend this year in some quarters. What do you think the odds are of me finding one with question marks on it though?
   
3. Did updates to my freelance website
   
4. Decorated for Halloween! Got out my plug-in jack o'lantern, skeleton garland, and black and white bow with ghosts on it. I also picked up some fall silk flowers when I was at Michaels' (I like the look of flowers but don't usually keep the real thing around because of curious cats)
   
5. Called friend for birthday
   
6. Slept - reading and napping all day Saturday!
   
7. Turned on the heat for the first time this season (I kept telling myself it's not cold, it's just "brisk". Or "crisp". But my extremities didn't believe it).
   
8. Made and ate quick Brunswick stew (empty cans, simmer an hour) - filling and tasty
   

What I didn't manage to get done:

1. Extended conversation with birthday friend
   
2. Geneological lookup for Dad
   
3. D.C. area costume/historical research for Costume College buddy
   
4. More sleep

Just read in tommx's journal that there's been another shooting :( The article says that it was outside a Home Depot - but that there was a Michaels' in the same strip mall, same as 2 of the other shootings. I was at a (different) Michaels' today [shiver]...

I was kind of hoping that the sniper was going further away, or that they had been caught, or died, or something, but now I don't have that comfort anymore.

Addendum: Shit! I just realized that this was at Seven Corners shopping center. I've been down there who knows many times to go to classes at the G Street that's on the other side of the Home Depot there.

Needless to say I'm really not comfortable at this realization..
