back to the grind

Back to work this morning. Still having post-vacation afterglow, but tired because for some unaccountable reason I was awake around 5 am.

It's going to be a busy couple of weeks. This coming weekend, D. and I are taking in a play on Firday and then my parents will visit for the weekend. Weekend after, D.'s mom and aunt are visiting.

Incredibly, I learned how to relax a bit in NYC, if only because I didn't have the usual everyday distractions around me. I read more, I ate more slowly, I wasn't in a rush to get anywhere. I guess it's true what they say about folks from DC going to NYC to relax! Now if I can just REMEMBER what I learned...

re-organizing

Trying to clean up the house, put things away. I've moved large piles of books around to create... similarly sized piles elsewhere, but at least not in the more-trafficked parts of the house where guests will be.

D. and I realized that we have many old audio tapes taking up massive space. They will probably not be accepted in trade anywhere, and I hate to just throw stuff out (much as I love to clear away junk, I hate thinking of the landfills I'm adding to). We will probably do a combination of digitizing what we like and trying to give things away before pulling out the garbage bags.

Re-organized my LJ too. Unsubbed from childfree. I don't really feel like I need that venue to vent anymore (or at least, not just now - if I wind up with another co-worker who feels the need to discuss her pregnancy/childbirth at length - whether I want her to or not - I'll almost definitely rejoin). I joined sneaker_pimps because.. well.. I am one.
