Today I ran a log analysis on one of our servers.

Because the log stats software was operating off of my machine and not off the server, where it is (allegedly) supposed to be, it locked up my computer all day. I could not do anything. Well, I had to watch the stats grinding away, in case it stopped on some sort of error, thus making it run even longer.

And I thought to myself, 8 hours of intertia x infinity = this must be what hell is like.

And there were things I could, nay, SHOULD have been doing had I been able to at least open a browser while that damn thing was running.

Like look up heavy protein/low carbohydrate recipes, for one. D.'s doctor advises that he needs to cut out the starches. Given that we have an almost identical diet, I imagine we both should. But rice/pasta are mainstays and we need to figure out a way to drastically cut them in such a way that we won't miss them.

I could have been doing things like this instead of waiting on the Interminable Stats from Hell.

After my crashingly dull, soul draining day, I came home to some happier stuff.

My niece and nephew sent me a thank-you card for their Christmas gifts, which I thought was rather nice - no one ever writes thank-you notes anymore (and it really was their handwriting), and though I'm sure their parents had something to do with it, it is sweet of them just the same.

Is it possible to be stunned, excited, and sickened, yet laugh your ass off, all at the same time? Yes - "Lexx" recorded last night. Don't know why I like this show so much, it is so twisted but it is SO RIGHT. And I certainly needed a laugh after watching grass grow all day at work.

Went through the closets throwing out more old lotions and creams, lotions and creams. Note to self - sunscreen loses its efficacy after a year, and should be trashed rather than permitted to take up valuable shelf space. I WILL reclaim storage space for useful things, it is my mission in life..

If you get the Style network, watch "Fashion Quest" if you can - it actually covers fashion history (however superficially - its only 1/2 hour). The show I saw was about eroticism/fetish and featured all my faves - Vivienne Westwood, Mugler, Gaultier, McQueen, Galliano (a bit too much attention paid to Versace, IMHO, but then I was never a fan). This one is definitely a keeper - time to pull out the blank tapes.

Hmm... Fetish is good. Suits are good. Fetish and Suits together, in profusion, are better.
