8 hours I will never get back
Jan. 14th, 2002 06:46 pmToday I ran a log analysis on one of our servers.
Because the log stats software was operating off of my machine and not off the server, where it is (allegedly) supposed to be, it locked up my computer all day. I could not do anything. Well, I had to watch the stats grinding away, in case it stopped on some sort of error, thus making it run even longer.
And I thought to myself, 8 hours of intertia x infinity = this must be what hell is like.
And there were things I could, nay, SHOULD have been doing had I been able to at least open a browser while that damn thing was running.
Like look up heavy protein/low carbohydrate recipes, for one. D.'s doctor advises that he needs to cut out the starches. Given that we have an almost identical diet, I imagine we both should. But rice/pasta are mainstays and we need to figure out a way to drastically cut them in such a way that we won't miss them.
I could have been doing things like this instead of waiting on the Interminable Stats from Hell.
