Got up this morning to go to work - late, unfortunately, as my alarm didn't seem to go off.

As I walked casually down the stairs I slipped and skidded to the bottom - what looked like rain turned out to be ICE.

So I initiated my own Weather Emergency Plan (i.e., stayed home from work - like hell I'm going to drive if I can't even get out my own front door) and lay around with alternating ice and heat because I landed squarely on my tailbone.

I have changed. Normally I'd be irritated because I hurt. Now I'm irritated because I hurt and because I am determined be able to go to the first fencing class of the quarter tomorrow.

Feeling a little better - no more sharp pain. I should have some bruises, but they aren't visible.

My only real limitation on movement is that I cannot bend/squat down easily - I couldn't feed the cats tonight.

D. has been marvelous about trying to take care of everything - whenever I have a problem he tries dedicatedly to fix it, even if time is the only thing that will do it, ultimately.

I'm going to try and make fencing tomorrow but if I'm no better I'll just watch. I promise (she said, deciding to take piles of Aleve before class). No, really, I'll be careful!

I have an appointment with the chiropractor next week but may try to see him Friday to make sure I've not done any serious or permanent damage.

I am lucky I didn't break any bones.

Temperature is in the 40s and appears to be holding - I hope so, because I don't want to encounter more ice tomorrow morning.

For now I'm going to have an early night because I have an early morning tomorrow. Think I'll watch the Feline Territorial Games and read a bit.
