Cool Things of the Day: Regency House Party and Colonial House

How would you like to spend 3 months at a Regency House Party - (stately home, servants, and dandies/wits/beau brummels included)? BBC Channel 4 (same folks who did 1900 House, 1940 House and Edwardian House) are now accepting applications online for those who feel like getting their Jane Austen on. I'm out of the running (married and too young to be a chaperone) but if you get in PLEASE save me one of those lovely white Empire gowns!

Closer to home, PBS is now hiring for Colonial House, a 5-month period where folks will get to live like the original 1630s Jamestown settlers (presumably without the disease and starvation). Also accepting applications, but it looks like you'd better be prepared to rough it as everything else will be exactly as it was then - no central heat, cooking over fire, fishing for your own food. And, no servants.

:D I'm not sure I could do the whole Colonial House thing - one of the main things keeping me out of the SCA is the whole concept of camping in costume, and this seems only about one step up from that. I'm not made of tough-enough stuff. The only reason I think I could hack Regency House would be the stately home with servants :P
