Oct. 18th, 2001 10:11 pmJust got back from fencing and I think I'm doing rather well. I was able to "hit" some classmates who I used to have an impossible time bouting with, and all the foot movements, etc. are feeling more natural. Even the teenage boys didn't get on my nerves - usually they flail away like Jedi knights trying to look cool but I think some of them were actually trying to follow the rules tonight.
I really enjoy the sport and wish I could fence more often. I may try to get some of my classmates together during the "between semesters" period, assuming we can find someplace indoors to fence.
Finally recieved my book about Washington DC's haunted history. I'm looking for a ghost tour or something similar like the Montgomery County one I went on last year. At this point I imagine the Capitol's Black Cat is off limits, though I wonder if he's been seen lately (tradition holds that the Cat is seen in times of national crisis - I think the last time was the JFK assasination).
Meanwhile my real cats are staring at me because they want food, want to play with the pointer, and then want me to provide a warm place for them to sit on. Time for bed as I actually stand a chance of getting enough sleep tonight.
