Another busy indoor day.

After sitting on it since April, I finally started "Beyond Innocence", the second book of Jane Goodall's letters (she was a childhood hero of mine). Quite good so far, but it starts on such a sad note (the polio epidemic that killed/crippled many of the chimps she was studying at the time).

I will need to call various relatives to brainstorm Xmas gifts. Some folks are very obvious this year, but as usual I have some on my list for whom I have no clue whatsoever. I want to get everything selected and make my orders all in one day, if at all possible.

I finally took some photos of the polyester mock Fortuny. D. took some truly excellent closeups of the crinkled fabric and beads. If the digital camera is capable of such closeups I'm going to re-take the red stays - that picture is very blurry.

The navy pants on which I wasted an eternity are finally done. I'm going to have them professionally pressed, as my iron can't seem to flatten the seams nicely.

I did trace out a new pattern for 16th century stays, but I want to make a test muslin first as they do not seem substantially smaller than the last pattern and I want a huge gap in the back so there's no hazard of the bones pressing up against my spine. [livejournal.com profile] geekchick, you interested in working in tandem on your corset? The sewing machines are oiled and ready to go!

Back to the day to day grind tomorrow. Can't say I'm looking forward to it as we are going through a hell of a slow period. I will probably take in my ASP books and study.
