good news/bad news
Sep. 19th, 2002 10:43 pmFirst the good: Fencing started back up tonight and it felt great to be back! There is a new person in Club who will be a challenge - she competed for several years and even though she hasn't fenced in 5 years, she is very fast and very good. Should be a fun fall.
and the Bad: Buzz ends it's 9 year run in DC - evidently the military teamed up with DC police to put pressure on Nation to drop Buzz Fridays or lose their liquor license - all because a few Army boys couldn't be reined in from clubbing :(
Yes, I know that technically Buzz is and has been for some years a "top 40" type club, and yes, I've not been in about 6 years, but it's the weekly "rave thing" for folks who want to do something other than go to bars and hit on/get hit on on Friday nights. If Buzz's assessment of the situation is correct (and I am willing to allow that they may be biased, it happens) it is insane.
And D. and I were even throwing around the idea of maybe going to Buzz every couple of months or so, as we both love to dance and watching D. at the Orbital show last year I realized how much he really missed it :(
