Monica Ferris' "Needlecraft Mysteries" series - I've not read any but it looks like a series of novels with punny names set in a Minnesota yarn shop, Crewel World.

No idea. I think "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" kicked off the trend, and then came "Pride/Prejudice" which is essentially the original novel slashed/femslashed.

What I want to know is why zombies are cropping up everywhere. D. is even downloading a Red Dead Redemption extension that has zombies.

The P&P thing started before "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" ... it's just one of the better ones. Most of 'em are slushy, bad fanfic-type romances that, I suspect, are only seeing print because it's become a huge bandwagon trend that all the publishers are jumping on.

Ditto for the sudden explosion of zombie fiction, although those at least attempt to be a little more imaginative ... I catalogued one called (and about) "Zombie Vikings" earlier this week ***twitches***. Another growing trend is shapeshifter and immortal warrior romances. No dent in the output of the traditional bodiceripper romance stuff though (the words guaranteed to make the intelligent cataloguers in my department flinch are rogue", scoundrel, and any variation of Highland/Highlander ... those and the damned Rainbow Fairies)
