picking the national scab
Sep. 10th, 2002 09:02 pm.. in the most offensive way possible - that is what is going to happen tomorrow. Finally someone points out how disrespectful and tacky it will be, in a link stolen blatantly from
mactavish's journal.
And that's all I'm going to say about that. Tomorrow is just another day.

Date: 2002-09-11 04:31 am (UTC)Having said this, the way the media seems to be approaching The Day (wall to wall coverage) I still find distasteful. I found it distasteful last year when this first happened. I will admit that my irritation with the media orgy of footage is probably caused at least in part by the fact that I find the constant hammering to be the exact opposite of comforting - I fail to see how this will help people.
It also appalls me that there are people who will use the events and their memory for their own purposes, even if they are in the minority. A HORRIBLE thing happened and NO ONE should "play" people's emotions about this to their own ends.
It seems that everyone I know is going to mourn in their own way and avoid the media blitz, so my bitching-by-linking may be irrelevant. It doesn't make it any less disturbing for me.
