I'm packing for the Atlanta trip. Given hours in airports/planes + last minute no-roommate for Nationals, I plan to take advantage of quiet time by reading. Of course, I'm taking far more than I'll actually get to, but hey - it's me:

Glut (mentioned previously)

Soulless, because the interview over at I Should Be Writing made it sound like a historic hoot and a half

Valente's Palimpsest, because [livejournal.com profile] shemhazai and others have recommended it and it was nominated for n awards

Badass Faeries 3, as it's always good to have bite size stories, and these are hilarious (HT [livejournal.com profile] jlsjlsjls)

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, because I was intrigued by it's coverage on NPR and after reading a fragment on Google books I picked it up. That the protagonist is a damaged but brilliant punk girl sold it.

What are you reading this summer?

I'm pickig up the third book in the Girl series today. It really is an incredible series. You are going to LOVE Lisbeth!

Glad to hear the entire series is just as strong :) Any opinion on the movie?

Haven't had a chance to see it yet but they say its pretty faithful to the book and only misses a bit. The girl playing Lisbeth is insanely hot. I was actually debating seeing it next week.

Twilight. But only because I'm teaching it in my English 101 class, in order to help students become critical thinkers.

A whole bunch o' books on Robin Hood -- the original medieval tales.

Comic books, of course.

And, ummm.... Frisco. Lots and lots o' Frisco.

I feel your pain re: Twilight. I have read excerpts. That was enough!

Which comics?

And hopefully in the nearish future I'll have some time to read Frisco.

Inspired by you, I put my current to-read pile up on my own LJ in the hopes that it would look a little less scary. One crossed off already ... spent Canada Day reading Kage Baker's "Not Less Than Gods" (which I'd been eager to get into but was also saving for a time when I could read it all in one go. As always with Baker, one helluva good tale (including a Nell Gwynne's chapter). :-)
