The view out my front door, yesterday

D. and I weathered the storm quite well yesterday. Full photo documentation, with explanations of how bad it was and wasn't. By my very inexpert measurements (i.e. a ruler stuck into the pack on our front stoop), we got 11" by last night, but 16-24" has been reported locally.

We pretty much stayed glued to the sofa watching movies all day, which suited me just fine. Yesterday was the worst day of my cold thus far, and I didn't really need to be going and doing, as I am wont to do unless D. curbs me.

I did do a bit of hand sewing, finishing the Henrican bonnet/flat cap as laid out in the Tudor Tailor. The instructions threw me a bit until I decided to finish all edges and then whipstitch together in the period manner. It turned out very nicely indeed.

Today I've got a bit of a Nyquil hangover - I'm well rested and less icky but very dried out and guzzling water by the gallon. Townhouse management dug out our sidewalk and D. just finished excavating the cars. It looks like the plow has been through the parking lot. I'm still not going out though.

Not sure whether I hope work is closed tomorrow or not. On the one hand it would be nice to have another recupe day without having to take sick leave; on the other, there's work that still wants done and cabin fever will set in sooner rather than later.

Today I'm going to draft "cuffs" for my venetians - they're a bit short and expose my knees when I lunge, which isn't so hot for rapier fencing. After hot chocolate.
