Halloweenieness
Nov. 1st, 2009 10:41 pmWent to my friend C.'s party last night. And BOY was it a party!
C. does and always has loved Halloween, and now has her own home to exercise her decorating designs - EVERYTHING in the house followed the theme, from "witches brew" punch (sorbet and... something that made it look foamy) to the pumpkin shaped soap in the bathrooms. Toe tags for the wine glasses, and she somehow acquired a rabid tribble (don't ask). The food (pumpkin pasties!!) was spectacular and it was great to see her in her element :)
There was Wii - trivia games and SingStar (karaoke). The former was fun. The latter... well, I sang. Apologies to all within earshot...
Today I went to another fencing competition. It was kind of a last minute decision, mostly an excuse to sleep in and indulge in diner breakfast preloading :P
It was stiffer competition but I was fairly loose and calm, perhaps because I didn't have high expectations. I lost all my pool bouts but got touches in all of them save one - and that last one was because I let myself be deceived by my opponent's seeming passivity. Her parry riposte was fierce and it was a good reminder that I still lack confidence in my attacks.
If the above reads rather flat and colorless it's because I'm tired, drove around in the cold and wet and am really feeling the time change. An hour's difference shouldn't be so profound but when it gets darker "earlier" I just want to eat and sleep. Am going to try to keep both to summertime amounts.
