Great minds, etc.

My special-ordered copy of Kage Baker's "The Women of Nell Gwynne's" got delivered to my desk this afternoon and it's sitting in front of me right now ... very pretty.

The same publisher put out a similarly illustrated edition of her Rude Mechanicals a couple of years ago, and hopefully she'll produce more of these little gems for them to publish. :-)

Oooh - let me know if it lives up to the hype in our joint minds!

And I came across this just today - she's doing a stand-alone novel about Edward Alton Bell-Fairfax (scroll down (http://io9.com/5334141/in-which-some-steampunk-novels-are-discussed))!

Yes, I saw the announcement for the Fairfax book when I visited the Subterranean Press webpage about an hour ago to get a good "The Women of Nell Gwynne's" cover image for my book database. Also learned that "Nell Gwynne's" has already sold out its print run, which makes me VERY glad I pre-ordered mine several months in advance of the publication date. :-)

"Rude Mechanicals" was a fabulous (and hilarious) little romp, and I'm sure that this new story will be just as good. Both books do share the same high quality Sub. Press construction (linen paper endpapers, thick creamy-coloured acid-free paper for the regular pages, and a lovely frontispiece that complements the cover).

I really must get 'round to ordering a copy of her Or Else My Lady Keeps the Key too.
