the word meme: home
Jul. 15th, 2009 09:54 pmContinuing from here, and wonderfully apropos given recent travel:
Home is where I feel physically and mentally safe enough to rest, to be on less-than-perfect posture and behavior. I know where people and things are and my relation to them.
D. and the cats mean home.
Falling and staying asleep without being subconsciously on guard is home.
Feeling welcome, while pleasant, isn't the same as feeling like I'm at home.
Belonging is home.
I try and create a fragment of home whenever I'm not there. Sometimes it's as simple as having a place to put my rings when I take them off.
