Burlesqueish "Watch(wo)men":



Love the concept, if not the execution which...Maybe I'm just not getting it :P Burlesque Dr. Who looked funnier.

And as far as odd themed burlesque goes, neither of these were as hilarious as this guy.

Not sure I'd say explicitly sexist, but definitely no one looked like they were having fun with it - and the theme was definitely one they could have gone crazy with!

I think what I found explicitly sexist about it was the way making the Watchmen female (into Watchwomen) inevitably led to sexualizing them. I realize it's burlesque, and part of their thing is recasting pop culture with girls who take off their clothes, but maybe even when they use female casts for things they don't usually change the name in a gendered way, and that's what I'm reacting to?
