anotheranonDisclaimer: I've not seen the movie, but I have read through the graphic novel. Though it seems some right-wing pundits are twisting logic into pretzels trying to see "300" as an allegory of Gulf War II (even though it was written in 1998 and is a comic book, fer crissakes), I'm more inclined to think that it may be the most unintentionally homoerotic movie of the year (don't miss the funny videos).

wcg has already discussed the historical inaccuracies, but IMHO these have little to do with how "good" the movie is or isn't - likewise I don't think the fact that Pirates of the Pirate Spank Inferno* has nothing to do with the historic reality of piracy in the Caribbean diminishes its entertainment value.
Evidently though, the muscles are real and there's a workout to prove it (more details and Stumptuous' trial run). I feel like a puny girly-girl now :/
FWIW, I think I'll be skipping "300", or at least waiting for video. Gerard Butler's abs may be all that, but I can see them in "Tomb Raider II"**.
*Ever since seeingragdoll's icon of same, it's been hard to resist the urge to refer to POTC 3 as PSI. In addition to being a hilarious Coupling episode, it's so obvious that Jack + Norrington + Orlando Bloom's character are all much more into pursuing each other than Kiera Knightley :P
