Today I went out to use a $20 off promotional thingie, in search of sports bras.

I did find what I was looking for - buy one get the 2nd off, as a matter of fact :) If these hold up like the last ones (and my size doesn't change), I've got sport support for the next ~10 years. Go me :)

Other observations:

  • My "shopping tolerance" isn't what it once was. Maybe it's because I'm very concious about my limited budget, but 2 hours is about my limit before I get cranky and wish I'd just find something I wanted already. This is true even with "fun" things like shoes and lingerie (but, [regrettably?] not for REALLY fun stuff like books/fabric).
  • The range of choice in your average shopping mall is overwhelming - no wonder I used to walk away with things I wasn't sure I really wanted or needed! The budget helps, but what's even better is to just never go shopping unless I'm looking for something specific; then it's much easier to ignore things I wasn't looking for in the first place.
  • Stopped off at one other place to look for everyday Wacoal bras (I'm slowly, slowly trying to get a good "wardrobe" of Wacoal-only for everyday because they fit wonderfully and last forever) and almost got distracted by beautiful small-wale corduroy jackets with military styling (LURVE me some eapulattes and brushed brass buttons!) Then I remembered - my love of jackets is inversely proportional to my ability to find shirts-other-than-t-shirts that actually fit, and I'd do better to make some button downs and THEN worry about outerwear. Again, being aware of need vs. want is a good thing.
