Fencing: negative space
Sep. 27th, 2006 11:26 pmVery short because I'm tired:
- When directing a bout it's helpful to watch the space between the blades rather than try to watch the actions of each individual blade. Peripheral vision is surprisingly helpful
- Note to self: yet another reason to never give into any temptation to fence in my glasses
- When fencing, I shouldn't try and follow my opponents blade - this will always end up with my blade being where the opening of my opponent's target area isn't. Look not at where the blade is, but at what part of the target is unguarded.
