Probably not news to everyone, but news to me: here and here are metric buttloads of links and resources on how to make/get your very own browncoat/pretty floral bonnet/Persephone ballgown/Hawaiian shirt/you name it.

If you drill-down at the latter link you'll find Blue Sun Shirts and a handful of CafePress sites that I suspect are making a killing off Jayne's t-shirts - if need be, you can get a "Compression Coil Catalyzer: It's a nothing part 'til you ain't got one" tee for your dog (remember: dogs will wear stuff a cat won't touch).

Ambition: I want Zoey's outfit. And several of Inara's. One day, when I have time/$/know how to work with suede....

In this case, the h-costume list (http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume) - lots of people on there do both historic and fantasy/sci fi costuming (and a lot of sci-fi costuming is based on historical models - but that's another post).
