Current project status:

Body block fitting completed. Need only to transfer changes to the paper version and copy the paper version to a more permanent format.

Choice of upcoming projects:

White Regency dress adapted from Simplicity goth-y pattern. Additional slip and possible shawl; may come later.

    Pros:

    • Never done Regency style before (this attempt will be for looks, not historical accuracy)
    • I never work in white - it would be a change.
    • Comfortable nightgown-type thing.
    • Empire waist conceals multitude of sins.

    Cons:

    • I never wear white.
    • Finding perfect white cotton batiste (closest modern fabric with drape similar to early 19th c. muslin - ok, selectively implementing historical details)
    • Where would I wear this?
    • Without the shawl, I'll freeze.
    • No shoes to go with - probably will not go with platforms (unless they are Vivienne Westwood ballerina rocking horse platforms - not likely to find/afford those)

    Donna Karan 1990s wrap dress
    Pros:

    • I have everything for it - pattern, fabric, thread, notions.
    • Instant gratification - it would be fast and easy.
    • I've been sitting on it since fall and should probably

    Cons:

    • Too easy - not challenging
    • Will be difficult to wear with tights as poly jersey is notoriously staticky. Will need to also make (cringe) suitable slip or use entire can of "Static Gard".
    • The usual reason - too cold, even with tights.

Womens tail coat pattern - with pants (can modify a better skirt than included with the pattern later)
    Pros:

    • I've wanted a tail coat for over 10 years. Why wait a second longer?
    • Will go with recently completed red stays (maybe? yeah, it will go)
    • A challenge. Haven't done any tailoring for awhile; need to keep myself sharp.

    Cons:

    • At my rate of sewing, will take at least 2 months, just for the tail coat.
    • Serious outlay of $ for materials - outer cloth, lining, two kinds of interfacing, trim.
    • Will need to take the time to make the muslin to adjust the pattern for my own measurements.

Don't need to decide any of this now, but I want to. Good thing I still need to trace off the body block and clean the sewing machine before I start anything.
