miscellanea
Dec. 16th, 2005 09:04 pmIt's been a mostly quiet week. Work gets quieter as the holidays get closer. No work Thurs. due to weather/car woes, but I got to read a bit. Really, this time of year I want to keep on a schedule that gets me out of the house, because it's oh-so-easy to drift into a pleasant inertia until sometime in February :P
Woke up a little to Lost PowerPoints of History, which attempts to sum up the entire works of Swift, P.K. Dick, and the Elizabethan Era ("Sir Francis Drake makes diplomatic overture to Spanish (only slide): kiss my Golden Hind").
Further fortified by a link from D. indicating that there's another yahoo out there who thinks the Middle Ages didn't happen, this time suggesting through tormented astronomy that "Christ, Greek warriors and medieval knights all lived at the same time" (!) Frankly I think this poor maniac must have missed the "Creative" in SCA and been to one too many tourneys where Roman soldiers face off against Crusaders :P
I'm slowly progressing on my Xmas cards and presents; it's fortunate that most of my shopping is online as the tires for my car won't be in until next week :( Given the wonky seat in his car, D. has gallantly offered to chauffeur me around - poor guy. I say that because not being transportationally autonomous grates on me terribly, though I will of course try to behave.
Weekend plans: haircut (yay!) and coffee with friends I've not seen in awhile. Also possibly a movie - Narnia or perhaps King Kong. Also a furious attempt at some sewing.
I received a bottle of Grand Marnier as an early Christmas gift. I've never had it - any mixing suggestions?
