Had a wonderful evening at [livejournal.com profile] geekchick's and [livejournal.com profile] nminusone's last night! Not only are my friends super-cool, they are also excellent cooks. [livejournal.com profile] geekchick especially did holiday "care packages" for us all with many minty brownies, gingersnaps and apple breads to keep us going through the week :) Turkey + cheesy potatoes + sausage/bacon stuffing = very good. General food-coma and watching of weird animation (Venture Bros [!?]) followed.

It was good to see everyone, because I hadn't in a long, long while. I always say I ought to try harder to get out and see everyone, and I hope I can remember that...

I needed to work out all that heart clogging artery hardening yumminess so I went out to historic-fence for the last time this year. It was a good workout - longsword for upper body; saber for legs.

Drove home (slowly, carefully) in lightly falling snow; made dinner after making small offering to the household goddesses: Miss Spice is impressed with turkey and bacony gravy; Kisia not so much, but likes plain bacon quite a bit :P

Tomorrow looks to be extremely cold and windy if the intermittent howling outside is any indication - real fencing socks and New Rock boots weather! :/

i think i can speak for many aussies when i say that we suffer from a major lack of the stuffing arts. is it true that stuffing is in itself a side dish?

[sidebar: it's not uncommon for aussie families to head to the beach on christmas day and have a casual bbq - - and certainly the beach is where we go on boxing day!]

Stuffing is indeed a side dish. There's even an instant version sold under the brand name "Stove Top".

Re: beach on Xmas - oh, I WISH!!! It's always seemed to me cruel and illogical to have the 3 most social holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years') cluttered together in the dead of winter when I'd rather stay inside with a book!
