Today I finished out my ASP.NET class. It was very good because it had a lot of exercises in addition to the lecture, and as I learn by doing I think it is (was?) finally starting to mesh in my mind. I'm on fire to start a project at work or on my own, because it's been my experience that I take these classes and then forget everything because I never end up using it :P

So, I'm finishing up, pretty confident, and Learning Tree does offer an exam after the class - mostly for people going for a certification/college credit, but it doesn't cost extra and I thought it would be fun to take as some sort of "proof" to myself that at least for one, shining moment I knew the ins and outs of Visual Studio :P

I swear to doG, no sooner than I'm presented with that little form with the fill-in bubbles on it, than I'm back in college during final exams: my heart is pounding and I start reading the questions far to fast and drawing blanks on questions which I was sure, so sure, that I knew the answers to....

I was always freaked by tests and exams in school, and it's just sad how that's the same, even though I kept telling myself that it wasn't for credit, didn't count towards a grade, etc. I did manage to slow down enough to read the questions, but I still doubt whether the results (I'll get them in a week or so) will reflect anything resembling my abilities under actual working conditions :P

Got home, took 2 hour nap, as I've been going on ~6 hours of sleep/night for the past week and feeling generally "off" all week. I think I can say with confidence that I do have a bit of a summer cold, so I'm going to try and take it as easy as possible.

Tomorrow: lecture on historical wedding traditions at the DAR Museum, then home for more rest.

drugz!

Since my Golden Hammer is pharmacology, I can't help but suggest something like propranolol here. It blocks out the panicky-ness, and just leaves you normal. FWIW.

And forgive my ignorance of LJ quote-iquette. Eventually I'll learn but til then I'm kickin' it old sk00l.

I'm sure you did fine!

exams and tests can be scary indeed. I remember the math exams from the university where me and the girl I used to study with had to go and take a walk and not come back until the very minute the exam started because everyone was so nervious it was impossible to breathe in that room.

hard boiled eggs for breakfast provides the protein for thinking clearly, a RedBull at mid-test for extra genius and dark chocolate to make oneself feel superiour. pain-killers by the side, just in case of headache. there is only one way to calm me down; preparations and a very deep breath.

You were freaked out by the prospect of a long drive and look how calmly you reacted (and how surprised you were by this) when you DID have a fender-bender. I have a feeling that your test results may pleasantly surprise you in the same way. :-))))
